Makeup

Makeup. Makeup, so many misconceptions about that one word. Makeup.
Within the female gender, you have different types of women, the ones who don't wear a
smidgen of it, perhaps a bad experience to thanks. Then you have the type of women,
who can spend countless hours in front of a mirror, trying and testing new techniques. Makeup. It can either define you or embarrass you.
Pretty simple, isn't it? Most times, a woman won't try that new foundation, or bronzing powder or eyeliner because somewhere or somehow, it marked them in one of those terrible situations where you don't even notice half your face has run down your neck until you take a moment in the restroom to look at yourself. Only to realize why people might have been staring.
I, myself, once felt the same way a lot of women feel today about makeup. When I started at the Beauty Academy, it was a requirement to look your best, which meant, makeup. You couldn't get away from it, teachers mada sure you were presentable, after all, you represented them, and the Academy. Unlike most, I hit it lucky, in my year there, I had two classes that were basic and personalized makeup. From the experience, I gained, I can now say, I know what we (yes, I include myself, because I once made these same mistakes) women, do not have the right information when it comes to applying makeup. Ever see those pages in fashion, or celebrity gossip magazines, where they tell you, you can recreate your favourites celebrities makeup or this seasons colours? Ever buy everything they suggest, and try it at home, only to realize, that foundation doesn't hide your pores, like on that model in the magazine... Must be photoshopped off of her right? Yeah, that and the wrinkles and etc, left to actually recognize her on the streets if you were ever to bump into her! So, here is where, I come in. I'll tell you, what you need before you put on your foundation, blush, eyeshadow, and more! For starters, clean your face, that means get a cleanser, toner, and cream. Exactly in that order, cleanse, rinse, tone, and cream!

Now you are ready!
1) Buy yourself a "Primer", what this will do is it will create a film between your skin and
your foundation. When I tell people this, they tend to freak out on the "film" part,
well then, I continue by saying, if you don't use a primer, your skin will naturally soak in
any moisture you put on your skin, which includes the pigment in the foundation which can create blackheads, and pimples. Yes your skin can breath between these layers, the "Primer" does not stop that.
2) Use a concealer  or colour corrector to conceal any, redness, discolouration, or breakouts.
Some people like putting concealer after the foundation but it's just personal preference.
3) When applying your foundation, you have three options, two types of brushes and the sponge.
Make sure when using brushes, that you wash them after using, same goes for the sponge
if you want to re-use them. Tip for the sponge, dampen it before using it, once it's damp,
it won't suck in your foundation and you won't waste any. The sponge can also be used to reapply more foundation in certain places you may have breakouts or redness, if you aren't satisfied with the brush.
4)Use either a compressed or loose powder, to set your foundation,
either the same colour as your foundation or a bit darker if you want.
5)For contouring and highlighting, you need two types of colours.
This step is for a personalized makeup. It will create the illusion of angles in a face that may be rounder or bring attention to certain features you want to play up. Usually you take a colour that is one or two shades darker for contouring. For highlighting, a younger skin can use a white powder that has shimmer in it, while a mature skin may want to choose a mat white powder, since shimmers, may go into the creases of skin, and not create the best effect.
That my friends are the steps for flawless skin!! :-)

Sweaters 1.0

In honour of our cold summer weather in Montreal, I'm writing about sweaters. When choosing a sweater, it's important that it says a little something about you. Are you the type that leans towards the nerdy side, or are you more feminine? Do you want to show off your rocker chick personality with a few studs or leather elbow patches? Or is it something soft and subdued you're looking for?

Here are a few ideas, to have fun with this summer!
Go ahead, knock some waves into that water of yours and make a splash!
After all, trends don't last, so enjoy them while they're here.
